Benefits of Rotational Molding

In the realm of plastics manufacturing, there are countless ways to produce a product. For large items, this often involves molding many smaller parts and welding or connecting them together during assembly. However, this method creates a product with inherent weaknesses. For temporary products or those that do not take much abuse, this is fine. But, if you need a product to be able to withstand greater forces or last a long time, it needs to be constructed as a single piece.

Rotational molding is the ideal solution. This method allows the manufacturer to create a single plastic unit that is uniform in thickness and contains no weak spots. Because the mold rotates throughout the heating and cooling process, it is created with an even thickness with no sagging or deformation. This creates products that can be affordable yet durable enough to withstand significant pressures.

In addition to being an affordable manufacturing process, rotational molding also gives designers a great deal of freedom. Because items are molded as a single piece, they can be nearly any shape imaginable. Round products or those with unusual corners and crevices are no longer an expensive project. New products can be designed and put into production faster than ever.
